Submission Guidelines

Dear authors, the editorial board of Tsantsa is very grateful to you for observing the following guidelines:

  • Articles submitted to the journal should comprise original, unpublished material and should not currently be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Articles which appear in the journal are subject to a anonymous peer review.
  • Manuscripts are accepted with the understanding that the editorial staff have the right to ask for modifications and/or make revisions aimed at greater conciseness, clarity, and conformity with Journal style.
  • With the acceptance of the article, the author confers the copy right to Tsantsa. Reprint is allowed only after official approval of Tsantsa.
  • The author authorizes the on-line publication of his/her article on www.tsantsa.ch and authorizes the editorial board to transfer his/her article to other platforms.
  • The author authorizes the publication of images, graphs, etc. whose rights s/he owns.
  • Obtaining the reproduction rights of images, graphs, etc. of third persons is the responsibility of the author. S/He has to give the necessary authorizations to the editorial board.
  • The articles published in Tsantsa represents the thinking of their authors and not necessarily the one of the editorial board.


Format and length of the text

  • Notes should be numbered sequentially throughout the article with a superscript numeral corresponding to the list of notes placed at the bottom of the page. Please, limit endnotes to a minimum and do not include citations.
  • Titles and subheadings must be as short as possible. Subheadings must be preceded and followed by a blank line.
  • Length of the text: Please see the guidelines according to the category (see below). Papers which do not observe the rules can not be proceeded and will be sent back to the author.
  • References: All references cited in the text should be listed in full at the end of the paper.
  • Bibliography «Tsantsa»: Please do not hesitate to contact us for a EndNote template. Otherwise please follow the guidelines (see below).

Heading «Dossier»

  • Length of the text: 40’000 signs (incl. spaces and bibliography).
  • Contributions: Once the article is accepted, it must be supplemented by
    • a short (max. 500 signs) summary,
    • a brief biographical note, institutional affiliation and full correspondence address (including phone number and e-mail), in English,
    • 4-6 significant key-words.


Heading «Free articles»

  • Length of the text: 40’000 signs (incl. spaces and bibliography).
  • Contributions: Once the article is accepted, it must be supplemented by
    • a short (max. 500 characters) summary,
    • a brief biographical note, institutional affiliation and full correspondence address (including phone number and e-mail), in English,
    • 4-6 significant key-words.


Heading «Essays in visual anthropology»

  • Length of the text: 13’000 signs (incl. spaces and bibliography).
  • 10 to 15 images (pictures, photos, drawings etc.) in publishable quality.
  • Authors should also provide a brief biographical note, institutional affiliation and full correspondence address (including phone number and e-mail), in English.
  • Please consider the Tsantsa lay out for this rubric: although the contribution should be represent a dialogue of text and picture, pictures and text are published on separated pages.


Heading «Current Research projects»

  • Length of the text: 19’000 signs (incl. spaces and bibliography).
  • Contributions must be accompanied by
    • a brief biographical note, institutional affiliation and full correspondence address (including phone number and e-mail), in English,
    • 4-6 significant key-words.


Heading «Reviews»

  • Length of the text: 9’000 signs (incl. spaces and bibliography)
